| | How many of you miss the old MTV? I remember first getting the channel in 1983. Back then it was 24/7 music videos and on Saturday nights concerts. Oh yeah and how about the old Headbangers Ball. I used to watch that show every Saturday night with friends. Times have changed as we all know and the channel sucks big time now. So what are some of your memories of the old MTV?? |

| MTV tried to get music videos back on via VH1 Classic. That only lasted a few years. All though they do play metal mania and we are the 80s still. The glory days of MTV are gone. But there are alot of good memories of the channel.

| Back in the day at my very very small Catholic school I was the only metalhead, so the weekend for me was all about Headbangers Ball!! And I agree with metalviking that it was only headbangers ball when Ricky Rachman was the host! Oh also Saturday night was also USA Up All Night! With Gilbert Godfrey - not the blonde chick there either! Cheezy horror flicks, good metal music - every little girl's dream. Well it was for me anyway. I used to watch Mtv all the time when it was still good. I can remember when Mtv rocked and Vh1 played the kind of music my mom listened to. Then after Mtv blew for years Vh1 was cool - like Pop Up Video and Behind the music. Which leads me to ask what (if any) of the Behind the Music made you cry - or watery eyed? Me - Lynyrd Skynyrd and Sublime _________________ Life and death, energy and peace. If I stop today it was still worth it. Even the terrible mistakes that I made and would have unmade if I could. The pains that have burned me and scarred my soul, it was worth it, for having been allowed to walk where I've walked, which was to hell on earth, heaven on earth, back again, into, under, far in between, through it, in it, and above. -Gia Carangi |

| Apologies upfront to Nirvana fans, but when MTV started promoting Nirvana like they were the greatest thing since sliced bread, that's when metal started to decline. Everyone forgot about metal and glam and looked at Nirvana and Kurt Cobain like they were musical saviors.
Now, I'm not dissing the entire grunge scene, because there are a few good bands there, but Nirvana was the biggest waste of talent I had ever seen. For a while, Headbangers Ball was my only refuge of hope for watching MTV. But when the top 10 countdown to Headbanger's Ball had a Blind Melon song for a number one video, (ON A HEAVY METAL SHOW!!), I knew that its days were numbered. |

| I would have introduced Cobain to the buisness end of a shotgun myself for what he did to metal..... _________________ ~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~+~ A pharisee is hard on others and easy on himself, but a spiritual man is easy on others and hard on himself (A.W.
