| Die with the one you love. A pentagram has been modified, to have the two points at the top rounded like a heart. Awwww, how touching.
I've met many, many kids and young adults who think this band is a good upstanding band to listen to, or worse yet, Christian.
Anybody ever heard of H.I.M.? What do you think? |

| Never heard of them, but I checked them out. Music's quite good, but I don't see how anyone could take them as a Christian band... _________________ "Who among the gods is like you, O LORD ? Who is like you— majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?" Exodus 15:11

| | Yeah I feel the same way and yet I meet more and more young people who claim to be followers of Jesus, who love this band and everything they stand for. |

| If I'm not mistaken, the him in H.I.M. is supposed to be Satan...in a playful sort of way. (Get it? H.I.M. vs. Hymn)
They're from NWEurope where neo-Satanism is all the rage with young bands right now. It's a bit of a problem, some have even taken to violence. Anyway...not so objectional as say...Venom? But certainly not Christian. |

| | Haven't heard enough of them yet, what I've heard sounds decent though. Have not heard were they stand spiritually, everything posted here seems to be conjecture. |

| More than conjecture, but it's certainly not arguing over. |

| From Wikipedia:
"Their first bandname was His Infernal Majesty (chosen spontaneously, as a complete joke). But as their popularity rose, they needed to change their name because:
- Finnish people were having difficulties pronouncing the name
- The band name was never actually serious
- The band started getting unwanted occult associations and people started to think of the band as satanic when it is not.
Consequently, the band changed the name to HIM from the "Wicked Game" single onwards, Though the single for "Your Sweet Six Six Six" included a 'His Infernal Majesty' sticker. In the official HIM biography, Synnin Viemää, Ville Valo admitted to making things up and joking about the name during interviews, leading to conflicting accounts of the origin of the name and the confusion that exists today.
During an interview, Valo has said: 'In almost every interview someone asks what does HIM stand for. I can't even remember our latest lie about that. When Hanson was hot, we said it means Hanson Is Murder. The name doesn't have a particular history. His Infernal Majesty was a totally different band. I think HIM derives from some death metal joke. And it was our protest to Haile Selassie's rastafarian religion, he used to be called His Imperial Majesty. But nowadays because of Linde's hair, we actually might be supporting him.'
Their second major US release, Razorblade Romance, was released under the name HER because a Chicago based post-rock band named HiM held the trademark on the name. While they toured Europe, primarily Germany, at this time, they used the name HIM and HER. HIM eventually bought the rights to the name "HIM" in the United States and used it worldwide from there on."
Sounds more like a blatant strivng for attention.... _________________ "Who among the gods is like you, O LORD ? Who is like you— majestic in holiness, awesome in glory, working wonders?" Exodus 15:11

| | That's usually what it always is, wich is why I said much of what was being said here was conjecture, wich is usually what most christians say about secular bands spirituality. |

| Is it ever about the music. By the way, Between the Buried and Me is quite brilliant. Sorry, it needed to be added.
Cheers,

| Yeah it is about the music actually...I am personally convicted to listen to only bands that glorify Jesus Christ, but that's just me. I'm not saying anybody who doesn't hold that same conviction is going to hell, but for me, I am predisposed to depression, and God convicted me several years ago to only listen to music that directly glorified HIM! (The REAL Him! LOL) It sounds like they're not unlike how Slayer used to be, when Bob Larson (now there's a blast from the past!) toured with them, and they admitted that all the satanic stuff was all a gimmick that they used to make money. The sad part is, that teenagers who listened to it, believed it and followed it themselves. Is that the musician's responsibility? Absolutely. If you put something out there, it is just as much your responsibility as it was Orson Wells and the radio networks when they aired War of the Worlds. My husband's band wrote a song called Scapegoat where they talk about people whining about the media's affect on their children because they don't want to try and parent their children. I kind of disagree with it. I feel like yes, people should be good parents and watch what their children are taking into their spirits (media), but also I feel like the bands should be responsible and think first about others before themselves and their wallets. But oh, God forbid they should make one million instead of four bazillion. And God forbid they should act like Christians are supposed to, and put others before themselves. So on they (some secular bands) go, touting free speech and writing stuff about whatever they want, not stopping to think about how immature teenagers might take the stuff they're saying seriously or even religiously. I know, I know, parents are responsible, but you know what? It wouldn't hurt people to think of other people before themselves once in a while, in my opinion. But I know a certain piece of real estate that would have to freeze over first, I'm sure. So for me, I like Bloodgood, Tourniquet, Deliverance, Barren Cross, Stryper, Crimson Thorn, Jacobs Dream, Hovland, Bride, Andy Hunter, Madison Greene, Petra, Ken Tamplin, various worship music, and way too many more to mention. My husband still listens to old school 80's hair metal sometimes, and Iron Maiden but I don't condemn him for it, I just ask him to maybe occasionally use headphones.
