Well, Tonne, since you were one who started the thread and had the main questions, I guess if you're okay with it ending, then....

I think if I were to ever re-convert, I would become a Catholic. Catholic services are much more entertaining and fun, for starters. Let's face it, while the evangelicals are entertaining as well, there is a whole level of freakiness that I cannot get over. Catholics have lots of ritual, which I enjoy, and there doesn't seem (at least to me) to be as much of the elitism that I see in Protestant membership. Plus, there are an abundance of services that the church provides, such as confession and 24 hour chapel access, which are very cool in my book. Plus, Protestants have nothing that compare to the Pope. Protestant figureheads are just a bit creepy to me.

The key is pick the flavor that suits you: Protestant, Catholic, Mormon, etc. Just as long as you get what you need from the group, its okay.

One (several part) question for those who care: why does it matter if someone else says they are the only correct faith if you've figured out things for yourself? Furthermore, why do people need validation once they've figured things out? Finally, what in the name of gooblegobble stew is the deal with the cats? If cats could speak English, they would have a much better vocabulary than people.

Cheers!

Ian

I'm sorry, Ian..... Sad

It sounds like you've never found the right evangelical church! Mine is the only true one, so come this Sunday, k? Wink (kidding)

Seriously I know what you're talking about with the freakiness. PLEASE TELL ME that you aren't using the Crouches on TBN, or anybody like them, as an example. O.o That hair.....those eyelashes.....*shudders*

But yeah my church is nothing like that. In fact it's probably a lot less emotional and "freaky" than most of you think....although we do have dancin' grannies but only when John plays his burnin' guitar solos, LOL.

I'm with you on that one. John refuses to join or become a member of any church. He feels like he's a member of the body of Christ. I just only recently decided to become a member at ours but that was after going there for two years and making sure we weren't going to be chewed up and spat out, again. I have also noticed that I have yet to hear about any Catholic churches chewing people up and spitting them out...or splitting...or having violent, screaming business meetings like one church we went to...

Me too! I hate that aspect of our church and all the other protestant churches I've ever been to! It's like *looks at watch* okay, church is over, everyone to MCL Cafeteria, we're lockin' up! It's like God's schedule revolves around Wednesday and Sunday! Our pastor and every other pastor I've ever met, also seems very busy and if you want any time from him you have to schedule an appointment! I totally don't dig that - I think the Catholics have the right idea with the 24 hr chapel access and the services at different times of the week. I think our church needs to have a 2nd shift and 3rd shift service but our problem is that everybody is older (except us) and they don't have the energy to do it. We're near a big international shipping area with a lot of warehouses and a 2nd/3rd shift service would do really well, I think.

Yikes, Mormons don't recognize the deity of Christ. They're kind of not christians. In my opinion you kinda at least need Jesus in the picture...

Which is why I chose LOLCATS to speak for me from now on. Because obviously when I do it myself, I mess it up.

Yes we do! We have Jan Crouch! What's creepy about him, I mean her???? Do you find her creepy? I don't find her creepy! I don't think there might be small animals living in that wig! I mean....I've never ONCE thought Dee Snider could take makeup tips from her! No! Not once!

O.o

Human nature dictates that our choices are the best choices. Its how we validate ourselves. Therefore, everyone else must be wrong. Thats the problem. We are all so very different and our choices in life will vary accordingly. While I do regularly attend a church, its not the glue of my faith. I dont really care about tags. Live your life to the best of your ability. Practice your beliefs in a real and tangible way. That may actually require rolling up your sleeves and getting dirty. And I always try to find the balance to realize that I am just as hopeless as anyone. No better, no worse. Just a schmuck trying to get through this thing called life. No, I have not arrived and I am not perfect. My daily prayer is that God will create in me a clean heart,,,today,,,
