Well, here's one that should be another huge honkin stinkin thread that ends with a "let's all agree to disagree" statement by Marcia.

Have you guys heard anything about this yet?

Apparently, there's some big revival going on in Lakeland Florida. One of my young adults called me, all excited about it. It sounded awesome.

So, I went to GodTV and checked it out a bit. Then, I got on Google, and I Google'd it. I read some excerpts from a website where people were saying Rick Joyner was a heretic. Then I read more where those people condemned the entire Third Wave/Vineyard movement.

So I'm confused.

On the one hand, I'm all into being like this: cheers

....and I believe in the giftings, in healing, in revival, tongues, the fire of the Holy Spirit, etc. You know I do.

On the other hand, I have a healthy dose of skepticism about this for a couple of reasons:

1) The quotes I read from Rick Joyner's books really did sound like false teachings to me.

2) Somehow this is tied into Heritage USA. Isn't that Jim and Tammy Bakker's old place?

So - is this the real deal, or a bunch of rah-rah hoopla?

Also somehow the Elijah List and Kim Clement has something to do with this but I don't know enough about him yet except that he says he's a prophet.

I think that depending on who you are and what 'church' you follow you will see anyone who believes differently from you as not speaking the real truth.
some christians see catholics as wrong, some baptists see all non-babtists as wrong, the list goes on and on
I personally think that anyone who is sowing the seeds of faith can't be all wrong. If someone gets someone else intereted in religion and actually wanting to pick up a Bible and learn more, that's a good thing no matter what.

My buddy lives in Florida and I spoke with him last night. He was very excited about this. I had not heard of it yet. I also googled it. I spent the first 5 years of my walk in the charasmatic church, so none of this if foreign to me. I believe God can do anything, but I am very cautious about things like this and always try to look at the fruit. Not to mention the fact that when I went to this Todd Bentley's website, the first thing I saw was big banners to "partner" with him, yes for only 30, 80 or 500 dollars a month, you can join in this revival.
If you study church history, you will see true revival is always accompanied with mass repentance.

The bible says:

Colossians 2:8, 18-19
8 See to it that no one takes you captive through hollow and deceptive philosophy, which depends on human tradition and the basic principles of this world rather than on Christ. 18 Do not let anyone who delights in false humility and the worship of angels disqualify you for the prize.
Such a person goes into great detail about what he has seen, and his unspiritual mind puffs him up with idle notions. 19 He has lost connection with the Head, from whom the whole body, supported and held together by its ligaments and sinews, grows as God causes it to grow.

Sometimes when people are desperate enough they'll believe anything, the sad thing is these false prophets have no healing balm to help them.

Yeah I'm pretty convinced that this is pretty flaky now. But if you go back to Pastor Bob's blog I like what he has to say NOW - even better than before. We have to be really careful judging others and being overzealous. We really need to be praying for these people, that if it isn't a true revival - that it becomes one.

Well, I believe to be true what Pastor Bob said. Revival begins in OUR OWN hearts ya know? The Jesus Movement days were amazing and how I wished I could of been right in the middle of them, but the Word Of God says that when the Son of God returns it will be as the days of Noah...Churches, REAL CHURCHES will get smaller and smaller Tonnie. That's why I've stuck to home groups! As far as heretics go, geesh...you have to follow your own heart on that. I speak of Dale Thompson A LOT...Heck, my OWN Pastor (Greg) they BOTH are called heretics on a DAILY basis, but I know in my HEART what is truth. You have to seek the Lord God in prayer for Him to reveal what is truth Tonnie. Don't cont on ANYBODY to EVER do it for you.

Ive been flipping over to GodTv the last few nights and everynight it just gets flakier and flakier. Last night Bentley was on a tirade and it was all about "I" "I" "I".

"I'm" going to preach here and "I'm" going to go to Africa to do this. He was just screaming it. Everytime I watch all I see is "sights and wonders" type stuff. I have yet to really hear anyone involved preach about repentance. I mean really preach it! They just keep pulling people up on the stage and blowing on them and saying "Shaka maka!"

Im asking the Lord to let me know if HIS spirit is involved in Lakeland and I feel like Im getting a 50/50 split.

I know God is bigger than Bentley and anything false teachings he may have and yet there are and will be people who are truley touched by God and that is what I pray for. That the Holy Spirit will indeed reach people.
