i mean by "name it claim it", teachings indicitive of that of keneth copeland, hagen, hinn etc.

i.e. if you are sick, then you lack faith or have some kind of hidden sin. or, if you are not wealthy, etc.

what about that thorn paul had? what about job?

also, it blows my mind that even baptist churches have lame doctrine like this now! where are we safe from this? how can you know you are getting wholesome teaching?!!

I've never believed in this even when it hit a high point of popularity in the 80s - early 90s. It just never made Biblical sense to me.

I don't think it's as popular now, though. Anybody know? Quite a few of those pastors are now under senatorial investigation.

This is very true, and this may be the reason people have a problem with Christianity in this day and age, but other factors go into it.

Do I believe Jesus can heal? Most certainly. Although, I have not all the capacity for my eyesight, Jesus has made me see different things that the eyes cannot see. If one comes to Him, he or she needs to see with their heart.

It sounds like more of the Secret if you ask me. Pastor Tom told me that was big during the 80's and he actually remembered doing it with a lottery ticket... Then he said he threw something when the numbers didn't come up... LOL!

i'm afraid this is bigger today than it was in the 80s. i think a part of it is (not trying to be sexist, the bible speaks, i listen!) women calling the shots in the church. in my former church, the pastor's wife has become very manipulative and in control. it has become total freaking chaos ever since! dont get me wrong (speaking in sarcasm...) she doesn't "teach" men, but she will TAKE OVER a sunday school class that a man is teaching and rape it with her agenda!

sad. i used to be able to say "baptist churches are pretty safe, and i can go there for wholesome teaching."
