This is day two of returning to the Straightedge lifestyle. Man I have alot of detoxing to do. Not drugs or anything but alcahol..the physical addiction is strong, but the armor is stronger. Alcohol stinks when you sweat it out LOL.

Sobriety only works if you want it, and if you have something else to fill the hole that's left after you become sober. Because if you don't fill the hole, the fall when it comes is even worse than before.

Speaking to you as someone who is almost 4 years sober . . .

Cheers and good luck!

Ian

That means Straightedge. No drugs, alcohol or promiscuous sex. (Abstinence for Christians)

Good luck with that Jim.
I am 7 years drug free and just occasionally drink - never get drunk though.
Gotta agree with Ian that you have to find something to fill that spot, for me it was knitting.
I was never really sXe - I knew some though that wouldn't even smoke ciggys.
Drink a lot of water and juice to help flush your system and find something like a new hobby (a good one) to fill the time that you used to spend drinking and remember we'll be praying for you.

my prayers are with you, panzer. just remember what GRACE is. it is a new attitude not to sin. it is also a rememborance that you have been forgiven, and if you backslide, you will be forgiven. though you are forgiven, the father still expects you to confess that to him, because he wants a relationship with you!

red meat also comes out of sweat glands, your sweat stinks more is is more sticky....eeewww! lol!

so how's it going Jim?

me - I'm a light smoker. But I started when I was like 14 same time I started all the other drugs and drinking. I used to smoke a lot but after my lung problems I cut back a lot. I'm down to like just a few ciggys a day.

I smoked for almost 15 years, sometimes as much as 4 or 5 packs a day in my heavy drinking years. I kicked the habit though before I had kids, not wanting to set a bad example.

As an aside, for someone who doesn't like people being judgmental towards you, you should try not to be so judgmental about others Jim. Everyone has their vices, and I'm certain some things you do that you believe are okay are hidious to others. I'm not trying to upset you, just hoping you could give others the same courtesy you've asked me to give you.

Cheers,

Ian

I don't think he was being judgemental - just saying that he thinks smokers smell bad.
My husband feels the same way about certian foods, he can't stand the smell of mexican resturants, for long while the smell of garlic made me gag - those vampire tendencies lol.
Ian how did you even manage to smoke 4-5 packs a day? Wow! At my heaviest I was like maybe pack and a half a day.
Honestly being a slave to many things I can say smoking is the hardest to quit, it just seems so natural to me to have a ciggy in my hand.

You probably forgot to draw the x's on the back of your hands in black magic marker, that's why you slipped up. Laughing
No harm bro, if you want to try being squeaky clean again you still can. The great thing is that as long as we're above ground and sucking in air, we always have another chance to change things.

Lol, for some reasons the codes didn't take. Oh well.
I think I might have the drinking thing beaten this time. I am on a body purifying regiment. I feel so good but last night I added alcohol to the equations. I feel horrible today.
SO I have decided to learn lessons from my one earthly idol and be a non drinker. This man was also a vegetarian but I don't think I can go back to being a vegi or vegan again.

Sounds like you're back on the right path. And good to hear you do have your x's. It takes something a little different for everyone when they decide it's time to stop drinking.
As for the vegi/vegan thing - I too have been there, done that. It was nice for awhile but I likes me some meat!
I feel off the vegetarian wagon with a full slab of ribs! I cook with a lot of ground turkey now, it's cheaper and tastes good too.

I feel like such a weenie. I can't even do color codes.

I had a hook-up for $6 cartons of Camels. At that point in my life I was awake 20 to 21 hours a day, and drinking for good portions of it. Smoking was simply finish one, light one up.

Cheers,

Ian

Ahhh that explains it. Chain smoking and tons of drinking go hand in hand.
if I could get $6 cartons of anything I'd probably have to start chain smoking again LOL
