The fact that drug abuse is not specifically mentioned means very little since the NT repeatedly mandates sobriety. Intoxication by alcohol is but one of many means of rejecting this mandate. Cf. methuo, be drunk; methusko, cause to be intoxicated; methusos, drunkard; methusma, intoxicating drink; methee, drunkenness; oinophlugia, drunkenness; contrast the NT terminology and teaching on sobriety: nepho, be sober; nephalios, temperate; eknepho, become sober; ananepho, become sober. Sorry to the mods about posting on a subject that was locked in another thread, but it seemed that no one addressed the biblical question there. Feel free to lock this thread or even delete it if it seems expedient. | |

| Thank you Sir Hemlock. I was a little bummed that things went a little off my main question and the thread got locked before I got a good biblical answer to my question. I know that's a question that everyone has an opinion on but I was looking for some biblical reference one way or the other, which you have certianly helped with. thanx | |

| i've found other, more constructive ways to get a high...lately i've been working out (no weights--pull ups, this sort of thing) and that seems to always relax me...between that and loud music i dont think i'll ever much want drugs haha | |

| You're high on life baby! If you can stay away from drugs forever that would be best - it's one of those things once you do it (most people anyway) always have a taste for it. | |

| I kinda just tap into what God says in scripture, and thats that our body is the temple of the Holy Spirit. And yeah man I personally know what my convictions are with .We Gotta get that armour on, gotta get grounded into a fellowship, have that accountability and like Metal Head says work out ,and crank that music, it works for me too. From my experience with grass I used it for escaping my woes, I went to AA to to level me out. I know God wants us to be good stewards of our money ,so think about how much that bottles gonna cost or that bag of grass, thats how I look at it | |

| true true. I was having a bad time and was asking originally because i was looking for some escape. I mean I really didn't want to wreck my 7 years drug free (except for a little pill slip up) but no pot no anything harder for those 7 years and only casual drinker havent gotten even half drunk - just slightly buzzed like 2 times. It's hard for me sometimes because I can't just go and have alone time and whatnot -not like i'd have a chance to sneak off and smoke a joint either but it was like, i just felt like I wanted a little bit of that sweet oblivion that comes from being slightly trashed. I am over my weak point although I feel the desire sometimes still. It's just that when you do something for so long you don't always know what to do without it. I wish that I never would have done any partying in the first place but you can't change the past just adjust for the future. | |
