Until there are two candidates who are firmly against all abortion, none of the rest matters.

I want to try something. Abortion is a subject near and dear to most everyone's heart whether or not they choose to dicuss it publicly. I honestly don't know a single person who doesn't feel passionately about abortion or a woman's right to choose, but because it can became such a violent argument, most people won't discuss it.

Personally, I am against abortion in most all cases. Abortion is murder, period, and until the government recognizes it as murder, it has become a moot point in most elections. Even our current and past extremely pro-life presidents have been powerless to change the abortion laws because of all the hoops and barrells to cross and roll over before a law can be changed.

Abortions have been happening far longer than any elected government, monarchy, or dictatorship has ever been around. It's WOMEN who make the choice through whatever avenue they can use.

So what is a Christian to do? Rant, rave, and yell on boards and chat rooms until Roe v. Wade is repealed? **wink, wink** Yea, that's been effective...

Pragmatically and practically speaking, what can we do? Gesuschic works on a pregnancy hotline, counseling, giving directions, phone numbers of OPTIONS to murdering one's child. She is at the front lines, working to save these children.

Now that is a job I would love to have, but I don't. I am going to look into it, though, as my job ends at the end of the year. My store is being closed - a victim of the economic crisis - and I am jobless for the first time in a looooooong time. (yes, I'm a little scared)

But what can I do NOW to combat abortion in a practical, everyday manner that will WORK to get people's attention? What can you do NOW, practically, in a way that will WORK? Let's discuss that...

I hope we can discuss this without poo-flinging...

i've not mentioned it in the past, but i try, at least once a month to go to an abortion clinic in lexington to pray....unfortuanately, dad always has me busy on the weekends my group goes, so i dont get to go often.

i realize that's doing nothing "tangible" in most's eyes.

but one day i went there were no less than 4 women turn around and come BACK out as we were praying the rosary. this to *me* is tangible.

That is incredibly TANGIBLE! Prayer is THE most effective weapon we have against the enemy - good for you. Does your dad realize how important this is to you? MAybe if you explained to him, he would help you get there.

Victor that's very tangible - especially to those little babies whose lives you helped to save. I actually brag about you to my hubby quite a bit.

As for me, all I'm around are truck drivers mostly male and none of them are having any babies. I really wish there was something real that I could do.

I know a girl who works at a women's health clinic a block away from the local planned parenthood (boo!!hiss!!) and she told me that they have people out there protesting a lot. but yeah we're always on the road. there's not much of anything that I feel I can do about anything to make a difference when I'm always locked in a box rolling down the road.

Sorry about your job Marcia.

Everybody go to www.standtrue.com and check out what these people do. Then buy some t-shirts. I love Stand True, those people are awesome and so are their t-shirts. I have 2 of them, the Abortion Stops A Beating Heart one, and the She's A Child Not A Choice one, then I have the For Christ I Stand hoodie. You'd be surprised how many "christians" are offended by them.

I have been in tears off and on for the past 48 hours, mostly over abortion. I know that you know who is going to immediately try to pass the Freedom of Choice Act. (go to obamabiden.com, click on issues and then on abortion if you don't believe me). It grieves my heart probably deeper than most, that I am as of yet childless as far as a biological child or a legally adopted child, and yet I was appalled at how many "christians" (note the quotation marks) were able to just turn a blind eye to the fact that you know who is paving the road to the White House with the blood of aborted children, just so they can get theirs. It sickens me.

One thing John and I are going to do to fight abortion, is adopt children. The problem is having a big enough house and the money to do it. That is the only thing standing in the way.

I'm praying that our 501c3 goes through okay so that our ministry can get tax exemption status and such before he takes the White House. Then hopefully I can draw an income from it and be able to stay home, in my bigger house with my adopted kids.

also, one thing most people never ever think about is the mother.

i had a very close friend who was FORCED by her parents to have an abortion, she physically fought them for a long long time (they of course, won.)

also, even if it was the mothers idea...they usually regret it. this is why i don't condone "hate speech" in ANY situation.

NO!

abortion is wrong.

what i'm saying is that, even though they may have done this evil with full intent and knowledge, they usually hate themselves for it afterward.

there is no excuse for it, and it should never EVER happen. but the women deserve our prayers as well.

some peoples conciences have been seared.

1Ti 4:1 Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;
1Ti 4:2 Speaking lies in hypocrisy; having their conscience seared with a hot iron;

Angelgirl I am right with you.

Please let me point out though, that I don't think anyone in this thread has said that it was OK. They have all said it was wrong.

And I say it's wrong, too, and here's why:

My husband and I've been trying to have one for 17 years, and all I have to say to people who have abortions is, what about MY choice? Your baby might have been my son or daughter that I was supposed to have adopted.

And people say, "Oh there are plenty of children out there to adopt". No there aren't. Okay I take that back, there are if you're rich, and have a huge house.

And it's so cheap to have an abortion, but SO expensive to adopt, believe me I know, I've looked into it a LOT.

And mister stone cold hearted president elect...........who hates the disabled and thinks they should die..........who wants to lift every limit on abortion, in every state (see obamabiden.com, click on issues and then abortion)...........won't be seeing to it that John and I can adopt, won't be sending any tax dollars our way.......if people are so concerned about the children why not take tax dollars and see to it that couples like us can adopt? Why not use the same tax dollars that would be paying for abortions, to fund adoptive families?

No way. Not with mister stone cold hearted. Why? Because he loves death. Because he wants to do away with special education programs because he says those kids are just lazy.

That is why mister stone cold hearted is not my president.

Tonya I think that most of us here will agree with you that we will not accept the stone cold hearted obama as our president. Not many people are truly aware of how much he hates pre-born babies.
I keep saying to people that one of his campain promises was 'An abortion for every woman of childbearing age."

I actually think that some anti abortion shirts are a good idea. If we could have a regular at home life i would like to do like Victor and go pray in front of planned parenthood. But that's just not in the cards right now.

I actually love some of the shirts on this site

http://www.liveoffensively.com/ourvision/values.php

here's the teeshirt pages
http://www.liveoffensively.com/equipment/products.php?cid=ts

very cool anti-abortion tees.
also some very good anti-porn tees, which would actually get more conversation from the kind of people I'm around most of the time.

So besides tee shirts - what else can we really do in our day to day lives?

for now prayer is about all I can do for a lot of things but we all know that God does hear all prayers so at least there's comfort in that.
